Your Axis boat is a work of art. From the intricate craftsmanship on the interior to the gleaming gelcoat — even the tower is a masterpiece! To keep your rig looking fresh and new for years to come, it’s important to spend a little time keeping it clean. Here’s a quick rundown of how to clean major surfaces and components. And if you’re still scrubbing by hand, we’re going to let you in on a few key RYOBI 18V ONE+ tools that will make your life a lot easier, and all work off the same battery.

The basics are a pack of clean microfiber towels and a cleaning solution. When selecting a cleaning solution, make sure to choose one that's specifically formulated for boats, as household cleaners can damage your boat's surfaces. We recommend SKIPS Cleaning Solution.

Let’s start with the interior. First, use a wet-dry vacuum to clean the lounge area.  If you don’t have one of these, it’s arguably the handiest thing in your garage and it’s time to invest. The RYOBI cordless version is especially handy so you’re not dragging extension cords into the boat. This tool is great for removing loose debris and dirt from floors and seats. Pay special attention to areas that are prone to dirt and grime buildup, such as footwells and storage compartments. Always clean from the top down, or else debris from higher surfaces will fall to lower surfaces and you’ll have to hit that area again.

Next, clean stuck-on grime with a RYOBI cordless power cleaner. Remember not to get too close with a high-PSI tool like this, but it can be a life-saver at releasing dried-on grit. You can stick with the cordless theme and attach a water bottle, or you can even attach a water hose and work from bow to stern for a deep cleaning. Start with the tower and work your way down for the best results. Adjust the pressure nozzle to go light on upholstery and a little stronger on gelcoat and Soft Grip. This will save you some serious elbow grease.

Now, it’s time to give stubborn spots a little more attention with a RYOVBI power scrubber (This is where you regret letting the kids have Cheetos in the boat). It’s water resistant, so don’t be afraid to attack baked-on grime now that the power cleaner softened things up. We recommend using the SKIPS Spot Blaster to remove tough spots or SKIPS Sleek Seats to leave your seats looking brand new. After rinsing off any soap, take a microfiber cloth to dry off the remainder of your interior surfaces & vinyl seating.

Now it’s time to move on to the exterior. After rinsing off your exterior, use a RYOBI two-handed scrubber and heavy duty, boat-safe exterior cleaning product to attack water spots, scum lines, and grime. Finally, for a smooth and polished finish that will have your Axis shining like it just came off the showroom floor, consider using a buffer. The RYOBI buffer is a great tool for removing any remaining dirt or residue, and for leaving your boat with a glossy finish. You can apply boat wax or polish to the buffer pad and buff your boat in circular motions. Be sure to focus on areas that may be prone to oxidation or dullness, such as the hull.

Cleaning your Axis boat doesn't have to be a daunting task. With the help of some of the latest cleaning tools available, you can quickly and effectively clean your boat's interior and exterior faster than you may realize. Remember to always use a boat-specific cleaning solution and be gentle with your boat's surfaces to avoid damage. Happy cleaning!
